How Coaching Changed My Life
From golden handcuffs to finding clarity and courage — here's what changed everything.
Step 1: The Dream Job (…but not really)
I had what many would call the dream setup — a dream job at a top tech company, great managers, even greater perks (think free food, gym, unlimited medical….)
But beneath that was something I didn’t want to admit: I felt stuck. Deeply unhappy. Unfulfilled. But terrified to leave.
Step 2: Fear Held Me Back
I worried constantly. But I didn’t dare entertain the possibility of quitting.
What if I couldn’t find another job? As an immigrant, my biggest fear was going back to my home country a failure, embarrassment and worst still… lost?
So I stayed. I told myself to be grateful, even as I was truly dying inside.
Step 3: Then I Met My Coach
That’s when I met Kenmo, a coach who changed how I saw everything.
He didn’t give advice or tell me what to do. Instead, he held space and asked thoughtful questions that gently challenged me to look at my fears.
One insight I discovered still stays with me till today:
“There’s a freedom in courage far greater than the comfort of fear.”
Step 4: A Moment of Realisation
During one session, he asked me to name something I was proud of.
I replied, “I was just lucky.”
But If I imagined a stranger doing the same, I knew I’d admire them.
That moment helped me realise how unfair I was being on myself — and how little credit I gave to my own efforts.
This moment truly changed my life.
Step 5: What Changed?
Coaching helped me reconnect with what mattered.
I began making clearer, braver decisions — in my career and in myself.
It was not just a few coaching sessions. It absolutely gave me direction.
And my life is so much more fulfilled.
